In Memoriam
Honoring beloved colleagues who have passed away
Frank Butterfield
Former Senior Wealth Advisor and Shareholder
Homrich Berg (now HB Wealth)
Frank Butterfield passed away unexpectedly on July 9, 2025. Frank was an HB treasure who joined our firm in 1993 and spent 32 years making an immeasurable impact on his colleagues, clients, and HB as a whole. His loss is deeply felt by all who knew him.
Frank was a highly respected advisor, an HB shareholder, and a brilliant professional, holding many impressive credentials and a wealth of expertise. However, what truly defined Frank was his loyalty, generosity, and personal connection with everyone he encountered. Frank’s unwavering dedication to HB was matched only by the genuine care he showed to clients and colleagues alike.
Frank’s career at HB was marked by countless contributions. He played a pivotal role in enhancing the firm’s financial planning expertise and investment offerings. His intellect was unmatched—HB founder Andy Berg recalls Frank citing IRS tax code off the top of his head during client calls, earning immense respect from those he served. Frank also went out of his way to mentor newer team members, ensuring their growth and success within the firm.
Frank’s warm spirit and candid nature made him not only a trusted advisor but also a dear friend to all. He was unflinchingly honest yet approachable, always taking time to connect personally. As Andy put it, “Maybe his best quality was that everyone liked Frank. If folks can say that about any of us, we will have had a well-lived life.”
We deeply miss Frank’s wisdom, humor, and warm spirit. His legacy lives on in the countless lives he touched and the indelible mark he left on HB.
Paul Lamari
Former Chief Compliance Officer, General Counsel, and Shareholder
WMS Partners (now HB Wealth)
Paul Lamari left us suddenly on July 11, 2023. Paul was an integral part of the WMS (now HB Wealth) team throughout his 11-year tenure with the firm and is dearly missed.
Paul joined the firm in 2012, initially with a very specific role reviewing legal documents within the private investment team. However, it became immediately apparent that Paul’s skills as a lawyer, strategist, risk mitigator and unique problem solver were extremely valuable across all areas of the business.
Paul quickly grew to become an expert in all compliance and legal facets of the company and industry, ultimately growing into his role as Chief Compliance Officer and General Counsel. We were also excited to welcome Paul as a Shareholder in the firm at the beginning of 2023.
No matter which “hat” Paul was wearing on any given day, his number one goal was always to look out for the best interest of the firm, even when that meant delivering an unpopular opinion. Nonetheless, he had such an easygoing demeanor and was a friend to all of us. He genuinely cared about his colleagues and always took time out of his busy day just to check in and make sure everyone was doing ok.
We miss Paul’s contributions to the firm but, more importantly, we miss our conversations, his dry wit and knowing grin, and his friendship. Paul lives on in spirit, will never be forgotten, and will forever be part of the WMS (now HB Wealth) family.
